Chart of Accounts General Information is below the Gsheet. Click here to launch gsheet below in new browser tab...
The Chart of Accounts is the list of accounts you will use for your accounting software. A basic Chart of Accounts includes asset, liability, equity, income, and expense accounts. Advanced charts may also include receivables, payable and more.
Many software packages don't give you "full control" over your chart of accounts. In some, you have to have certain accounts and certain account types even if they aren't needed for your business (software bloat). Our Chart of Accounts is a simple list that you control entirely. Likewise, our Account Type list is also fully in your control. Below are example Chart of Accounts recommendations for S-Corps, LLCs, LLPs and Real Estate Investors. These are based on the tax line items that are required of each entity on the tax form relevant to them. |
This recommended methodology of using a Chart of Accounts list in line with the tax form for a given entity is somewhat unique to the ZAP Software Publishers as far as we know.
If you don't understand why we recommend this over more generic and detailed items please refer to our book -- and remember, you can do whatever you want -- this is just an approach to a chart of accounts that we highly recommend for numerous reasons.
